Microsoft just deleted the provisional name Project Spartan, to baptize definitively a successor to controversial Internet Explorer. Microsoft Edge is the new name of the browser, which will come installed by default in the Windows 10 operating system, both PC and mobile or tablets.
The company from Redmond (Washington) has unveiled plans for its annual developer conference. Among the highlights of Edge is the inclusion of tools for easy reading and the option to annotate and highlight text on pages.
A detail too reminiscent of Google Chrome: the navigation bar serves both to type the URL (web address) to make searches. Also to know what the weather does or how the action of a listed company. It may also be used by the voice; Edge integrates Cortana, the wizard voice of Microsoft, equivalent to Siri, Apple, or Google Now.
The logo, for continuity, sparked the first criticism among attendees. The bill again and, although somewhat more stylized appears in blue, and remember too the ancient and controversial Internet Explorer. Not only aesthetic, also remembers his predecessor in operation, although the elimination of edges wins content. The number of buttons is reduced.
For now, the only option to try the new browser happens to use an experimental version of Windows 10. Explorer was the standard in the first generation of browsers, after the arrival of Netscape. Version six was, undoubtedly, the most reviled and the object of derision.
Netmarketshare provided a 59% market share in 2014 to Explorer, leader, compared to Chrome and Firefox, far from Apple's Safari.
