Apple's laying the law down: Watch applications should work without an iPhone close-by. In a blog entry, the organization orders that anything submitted for App Store endorsement from this June first forward must be a local application running watchOS 2.

This should be a boon for those who are using wearable while running, or workouts where carrying a phone will be a hindrance. And ultimately, this will lead to applications of higher quality, which make full use of the device and what he is capable of and not just be a cram for the work on this OLED screen.
